Light and Darkness

Psalm 139 tells me that to you Jesus, darkness and light are the same. Your presence is the same. You dwell in it so evidently. You speak, you move, you accomplish your purpose and your will. You heal, you provide, and you go before me. Even in the dark. I think sometimes, I see God as distant when I am in the dark. By hearing the lies I start to think that He is only there when there is light. Yet, His Word tells me that the night shines as bright as day. This week I fell into the idea that I was inadequate. Inadequate to be used by the Lord and in addition there was this dying fear that struggles from my past would hinder me from ever being able to even see the Lord. Unfortunately, I just wanted somebody to see me in my misery and tell me that that was not true. I believe the Lord allows darkness in our life sometimes not because we deserve misery but to show us that in that misery still, He is there. He does not see a difference in light or dark for His presence is consistent and never fading. In those times of struggle, He is trying to lead us to Him to remind us that all we need is Him. For me I needed to be reminded that the Lord has already overcome those struggles and in that He has let me be alone so that I can see that His grace and power is consistent despite what my circumstances may look like. Friends, maybe this is you so let me make this sweet and simple. In Christ there is grace and love. The greatest gift that we could ever receive is knowing Him and in knowing Him he has provided forgiveness. He does not measure us by our faults but instead overcomes them for us and then uses us as a testament of people who once were broken but are now made whole. Remember that even though you may feel like He is not there, He is, and He is waiting for you to receive that grace and accept the purpose that He has made for you. For He created you. A dear friend reminded me that the Lord has already given us victory all we must do is accept that victory and view freedom. Love has conquered any fear or darkness that you are facing. If you are struggling with this idea that you cannot be used by the Lord because of your struggles, know that it is a lie. Maybe you do not feel qualified to what the Lord has called you to do but when I look into the bible, I see examples of Paul, David, Rahab, and so many more of people who struggled so deeply yet the Lord overcame them and used them to glorify Himself and draw people to Him. Know He is there in your darkness and is patiently waiting for you to understand that you are more valuable to Him then your failures. Do not allow your failures to consume your mind but allow the Lord to be the center of your attention. Jesus, accomplish your will in me. Allow me to see you in the darkness. I thank you for overcoming my faults so that I can know you and be used by you for a greater purpose than myself.
